淺野由大は現在は京都を拠点としていますが、金沢美術工芸大学を卒業した作家で、在学中には平等院鳳凰堂内の、西面扉絵の復元模写に携わったことも。そのせいかその作品には、どこか工芸的な趣があり、しばしば吉祥紋のようなモチーフが現れます。現代的なモチーフとこうした伝統的な感覚の共存は、どこかシュールな印象さえ感じさせます。どなた様もこの機会に是非ご高覧いただきたく存じます。
ASANO Yoshihiro is currently based in Kyoto, but he is a graduate of Kanazawa College of Art, where he was involved in the restoration and reproduction of the west-facing door paintings inside The Phoenix Hall of Byodoin in Uji. Perhaps because of this, his works have a certain craft-like quality, and auspicious motifs often appear. The coexistence of modern motifs and this traditional sensibility gives a somewhat surreal impression. We hope that everyone will take this opportunity to view his work.
