石塚ちえは当初、いわゆるキャラクター絵画の枠組みで紹介してきた作家でしたが、ある時期以降キャラクター表現をほぼ完全に脱却し、ある種の「戦略的曖昧さ」を前面に出すようになった作家です。モチーフの極端な変形、リヒターを思わせる刷毛跡(だが全然フォトリアリズムではない)、複数の絵柄の混在と重なりなど。キャラクター絵画の枠を越え、具象絵画の新たな可能性を探るこの作家に、どうぞご注目いただけましたら幸いです。
ISHIZUKA Chie was initially introduced as an artist within the framework of so-called "comic painting", but after a certain point she almost completely broke away from comical character expression and began to bring a kind of "strategic ambiguity" to the forefront. Her works include extreme deformations of motifs, brushstrokes reminiscent of Richter's (but not at all photorealistic), and the mixing and overlapping of multiple patterns.
